Carol P. Landau
Carol P. Landau, 81, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away on October 1, 2025. Born on September 3, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, Carol will be remembered as a beautiful, intelligent, and strong-willed woman who lived life with energy, elegance, and determination.
Carol had many passions throughout her life, including equestrian activities, photography, traveling, fine dining, crocheting, boating, hosting dinner parties, singing kareoke, and shooting. She was especially known for her nightly cocktail—preferably Johnny Walker Blue—and her playful saying,
“Off we go like a herd of turtles.”
As one of the pioneering women in the field of auto mechanics, Carol became a trailblazing female business owner at a time when few women had entered the trade. She earned respect for her intelligence, skill, and perseverance, inspiring those around her with her drive and independence.
She was raised in the Lutheran faith and remained devoted to her family and loved ones throughout her life.
Carol is survived by her children, Ken Landau, Russ Landau, and Cherie Smith; her children-in-law, Patty Landau, Amy Landau, and Shane Smith; her grandchildren, Christopher Landau, his own wife Olivia Landau, Paula Landau, Rachel Paolella-Smith, her husband Christian Paolella-Smith, Rebecca Smith, and Megan Landau; and her great-granddaughter, Cori Landau. She also leaves behind her fiancé, Joseph Catalano, who was a devoted companion in her later years.
Carol had a lifelong love for animals and shared her home with many pets over the years, including her beloved poodles Dusty, Mutley, and Remy. Her favorites were her Bernese mountain dog, Buddy, and her cat, Shotsy, who were especially close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents and other loved ones, but her strength and spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
The family suggests donations in Carol’s memory be made to Hope Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Forever in our hearts and thoughts.
