Charles "Charlie" A. Heuermann
Charles "Charlie" A. Heuermann, 78, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on October 25, 2026, doing what he loved most: playing pickleball with friends.
Born in Belleville, Illinois, Charlie began a remarkable journey that would take him around the world. Early in his career with IBM, he relocated to New York, where he met the love of his life, Sharon Parsons. The two married and shared 54 wonderful years together, building a life centered on family, friendship, adventure, and laughter.
Charlie's career with IBM provided opportunities few experience, including spending three unforgettable years living in Japan. Eventually, Charlie and Sharon settled in Georgia, where they raised their family. They ultimately retired in Sarasota, FL, creating countless memories with friends and loved ones.
Charlie had a passion for travel and spent years pursuing some of the world's best fishing destinations. In recent years, he discovered a new love in pickleball, a sport that perfectly matched his competitive spirit, boundless energy, and gift for bringing people together.
An accomplished purveyor of one-liners, Charlie never met a stranger. He possessed a rare ability to make people feel welcome, valued, and entertained within moments of meeting them. Whether helping a friend, supporting a family member, or simply sharing a laugh, Charlie lived to be of service to others. His kindness, humor, and generosity enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Doris (Fries) Heuermann.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon (Parsons) Heuermann; his son, Darin Heuermann, and grandchildren Tag Heuermann and Sarah Lynn Heuermann; his daughter, Brooke McTavish, her husband Ian McTavish, and their children, Tatum McTavish and Bayn McTavish.
Above all else, Charlie cherished his role as husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired, the kindness he shared, and the countless lives he touched throughout his 78 years.
A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at a future date to be determined.
Our family extends its deepest sympathies to all of the friends mourning Charlie's loss and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who assisted Charlie and our family during this difficult time. Your kindness, support, and friendship will never be forgotten.
