Personal Tribute
When thinking of Cheryl certain words come to mind: kindness, beauty, personal integrity, and devotion to family. She was the epitome of devotion to family. She was a loving daughter who idolized her parents. As an only child, she loved nothing more than to be in their presence and taking care of them. Their loss affected her deeply and she spoke of them often, even years after their deaths. Her desire to always do the right thing made her stand out and as such, she was known for personal integrity. Sydney was not only her husband, but her forever person. They traveled the country together during his Air Force career with her becoming the family’s touchstone. They went through life for 57 years as a couple, with 56 of those as husband and wife. Cheryl’s lifelong wish was to be the perfect loving mother and she was just that to all of her kids. She provided unconditional love, the right guidance, supportive pep talks, and sometimes gently worded reprimands. Her smile, warmth, and laughter will be missed. Cheryl was also a devoted loving grandmother. From her first grandson Jonathon to her last grandson Ramsey, she loved nothing more than to rock her grandbabies, hug all of them, smother them with kisses, and spoil them rotten. Telling one of her grandbabies “no” was not in her vocabulary. Cheryl was a true friend, who was sweet and always there when needed. Her longest friendship was with her best friend Judy Taynor whom she met in nursing school and that friendship survived through countless moves. Judy and Cheryl were sisters in the truest sense of the word. If you were blessed to have known her, you saw someone with an excess of compassion and a love of people. She was a blessing.
After a long health struggle, we say see you later, not goodbye. Memories of our times with you will be with us forever.
