Debra Anne Croteau (Cooley)

Debra Anne Croteau (Cooley), 71, passed away on May 23, 2026. She was born on August 28, 1954, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Known for her caring heart and giant smile, Debra lived her life guided by three simple words: live, love, and laugh.

Debra found her greatest joy in the Florida sunshine, long days at the beach, and bringing family together for gatherings filled with warmth and laughter. She had a natural gift for making others feel welcome and cared for, and her presence was often the heart of any celebration. On January 1, 2011, at 11 a.m., she married the love of her life on the beach in Key West—a date and time chosen so it would always be easy to remember. That day reflected her spirit perfectly: joyful, meaningful, and surrounded by love. She often reminded those around her, “It was meant to be,” a phrase that captured her steady faith in life’s unfolding moments.

Her family was the center of her world. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ronald; her sons, Brian Klinakis (Heidi) and Nicholas Balboni (Shannen); her bonus children, Curtis Croteau (Hana), Danielle Mihaliak (Luke), and Nicole Croteau; and her cherished grandchildren, Tristan, Gabriella (Nick), Brady, Jack, Brianna, Alexandria, Jameson, AJ, and Gerry. She also leaves behind her siblings, David Cooley and Patricia Morrison, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, James Cooley (Karen). Debra’s love for her family was constant and generous, and she took deep pride in each of them.

A celebration of Debra’s life will be held at a later date. She will be remembered for the light she brought to those around her, the warmth of her embrace, and the simple, joyful way she chose to live each day.
