Captain Donald William Kerr 78, passed away peacefully in Bradenton, Florida on July 26, 2025. He was born in Oakland, California to Coralene and Arthur Kerr.

He is survived by his wife, Sue and his dog, Chester. His brother-in-law Stephen Jellerson and his wife, Rose Jellerson. His brother-in-law David Jellerson and his wife, Nancey Jellerson. His niece, Stephanie Jellerson. His nephew, Eric Jellerson and his wife, Soline Jellerson.

Aviation was his lifelong passion. He got his first pilot license by earning money playing drums professionally.

During his career he was Director Flying-Technical, Chief Pilot, Check Airman; and worked in Civil Aviation: Flight Training, Flight Test, Avionics and Engineering for six airlines. He especially enjoyed mentoring younger pilots. He finished his career as a National Simulation Specialist for the FAA.

He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with masters degrees in both Aeronautical Science and Aviation Management.

He was the recipient the FAA Golden Wings Award and the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award.

He loved fishing and boating. He traveled the world in his many jobs and had wonderful tales of his adventures. He was known for his sense of humor, generosity and unfailing helpfulness and kindness.

His stories will live on.
