Edgar Alan Jestes
Edgar Alan Jestes, born in Gary, Indiana, but who spent most of his life in Florida, passed away on July 10, 2025, at the age of 70. A Christian man known for his humility, honesty, and selflessness, Edgar was a caring and loving husband and father who touched the lives of all who knew him.
Edgar had a deep passion for racing and dreamed of becoming a race car driver. He found peace in nature, loving the quiet moments by the fire at the creek with a cup of coffee and the sound of birds singing in the trees.
Throughout his life, Edgar's faith remained his guiding light. He was saved in the name of Jesus and faithfully served others as a volunteer chaplain for 10 years in Moore Haven Prison, as well as through the Kairos prison ministry. He supported St. Jude Children’s Hospital and was a proud member of the Sports Car Club of America and the Fossil Club of Lee County.
Edgar will be remembered for his positive and friendly Christian demeanor and his unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone he came in contact with. His favorite saying below perfectly captured his outlook on life.
You can’t wait ‘til life isn’t difficult anymore to be happy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his children, Arica Benson, Jessica Jestes, and Tyler Jestes; and five cherished grandchildren, twins Courtney and Maverick Benson, twins Alanna and Jeremy Jestes, and Gavin Jestes. He is also survived by his brothers Josh, James, and Michael, and by Maureen Jestes, the mother of his children. Edgar’s faith, family, and service were the most important parts of his life.
Among the many fond memories shared by his loved ones is the time he proudly won a first-place trophy—not because he outraced a field of competitors, but because his was the only car in its class. He could have crawled across the finish line and still taken first place!
Edgar’s beloved dog, Triscuit, held a special place in his heart.
