Edward Stanley Baird
Edward Stanley Baird, born on August 20, 1947, in Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 79. Known for his deep faith, steadfast nature, and unwavering devotion, Ed's life was a testament to the power of love and loyalty.
Ed's passions were as diverse as they were defining. He held a sincere love for his religious faith, relished the thrill and freedom of Harley motorcycles, and enjoyed the sport and precision of marksmanship. A proud member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, the American Legion, and the Bonita Springs/Estero Elks Club, Ed cherished the bonds he formed through these communities.
One of Ed's most noble achievements was his dedication to family, particularly when he took on the role of raising his sister’s three children—George Minsterman, Sandi Tucker, and Barbara Cooper—after her sudden departure. His love for his wife, Linda, and his dedication to his friends, notably Dana and Tom Devers, were evident to all who knew him. The song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver was a favorite reflection of his longing for peace and togetherness.
Ed's legacy of love for Linda, his cherished nieces and nephews, and many devoted friends endures as a beacon of his generous spirit. A memorial service will be held in his honor on November 17 at 11 am at Our Lady of Light Church in Estero. A luncheon reception will follow at 12:30 at The Forest Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a cause close to Ed’s heart.
Linda wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to family, friends, and neighbors for their tremendous support and prayers during Ed's courageous cancer journey and her own recovery from an accident. Ed will be remembered as a man whose steadfast love and loyalty profoundly touched all those who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.
