Gladys N. Gabris

Gladys N. Gabris, 86, of Sarasota, FL quietly passed away on November 3, 2025 surrounded by her family, after a series of long illnesses.  

Gladys was born on May 25, 1939 to Charles and Irene Nellis in Meriden, CT.

In 1957, Gladys met Joseph Gabris at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, CT.  Gladys and Joe married in 1959 and went onto raise four children, Joseph, Jeffrey, Lori-Ann and David. Gladys enjoyed six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

In 1995, Gladys retired from a 23 year career with Centerbank Mortgage Company as Vice President leading Collections, Mortgage Servicing and their Acquisition Portfolio.  Gladys gave back to the community serving as PTA President in Watertown, CT. and Musical Director for the Oakville Watertown Fife and Drum Corp.  She was an avid golfer winning 1st place in the women’s division at the 2nd Annual CMBA Golf Tournament.  In 1986 Gladys was elected President of the Nutmeg Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association and in 1987 voted Woman of the Year.  Gladys loved Broadway Musicals and traveling with her husband Joe.

Gladys was preceded by her parents Charles and Irene Nellis and brother Charles Nellis and survived by her husband Joseph Gabris.

A private family service will be held to honor Gladys N.  Gabris’s life.  The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time.
