Harlow Eldon Engel, 81, of Tampa Florida passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025. He is survived by his wife Chris (Elizabeth) Engel, as well as sister Mary and her family, brother in law Jerry (Cathy) Harrison, sister in law Kathy (Nick) Turkal, nieces and nephews, many friends including Gordie & Sandy, Leroy, Dick & Marcia, as well as many past employees.

Born in Menomomee Wisconsin on July 7, 1943, Harlow lived a full and wonderful life, bringing to this world kindness at every turn.

Harlow grew up on the family farm with his parents, Harvey and Mildred Engel, and his sister Mary. His health struggles with rheumatic fever as a teenager shaped his view of life and mortality. He always understood that our time on this earth is limited, and can disappear at a moment’s notice. For that reason, he knew how to live in the moment rather than worrying about the distant future. This brought him an even temperament. When others were worried or panicking, Harlow remained calm.

Harlow had the opportunity to travel at various times in his life. His stories of traveling through Europe during college bring smiles to all who hear them. His extensive travels with Chris included trips to Europe and many sites in the United States.

He was successful in a variety of businesses throughout his long career. More important than business success, though, was his impact on his employees and customers. His friendly and kind manner was an inspiration to so many through the years, who continue to remember him as a most positive influence on their lives. That positive influence is how he will live on in all of us.  He was often a man of few words, but when he spoke, his words were always significant and meaningful.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay or the Humane Society of Pinellas County, Florida.
