Harold M. Cooper III sadly passed away unexpectedly, at age 73 on 10/1/26 in St. Petersburg, FL. He was born in New Bedford, MA on 1/7/53.

Harry was pre-deceased by his parents, Harold M. Cooper, Jr. and Helen Garnett Cooper and siblings Peter Cooper, Gary Cooper and Paula Cooper.

Harry was President/Owner of Cooper Insurance Agency, Downtown New Bedford, MA. The insurance agency had been started by his father in 1953, the same year Harry was born. A graduate of Kimball Union Academy and Babson College, Harry was also a member of Theta Chi Fraternity at Babson, and he maintained lifelong friendships with his Fraternity brothers.

Harry is survived by his longtime companion Robin Ann Gonsalves, and sister Nancy Cooper Wood and sister-in-law Emelia Madureira Cooper.

He was also survived by nieces, nephews and several cousins. Nieces and nephews are Deanna, Paula, Pedro, Bryan, Victoria and Alex. His cousins Jim & Kay Gable and Marge & Rick Mock were especially kind and supportive during the last weeks of Harry’s failing health. Harry passed away due to complications from a near drowning accident in Florida.

Harry lived in New Bedford, MA and South Dartmouth, MA, and more recently in Pinellas Park, FL. His family’s connections to the St. Petersburg and Clearwater, FL area go back to the days when both his Cooper and Garnett grandparents retired in the area.

Harry was an endearing man, and a colorful character, and he will be greatly missed by many people, especially in the New Bedford, Dartmouth and Fairhaven area where he spent a lot of his time. In his younger years, he was an avid sailor and boat enthusiast. He was also an accomplished skier and enjoyed skiing in New Hampshire, Vermont and Colorado.

Harry was exceptionally good and caring to Robin, and he will be very sadly missed by her every day, for the rest of her life.
