James Maximillian DuPont II
James Maximillian DuPont II, named after his paternal grandfather and also known as “Jim”, age 64, passed away on April 2, 2026 in Venice, Florida after a life lived boldly and on his own terms. Born on June 23, 1961 in Morristown, New Jersey to Julia F. Cavinato and Paul Robert DuPont, and raised in Gillette, Jim brought laughter and a "heart of gold" to everyone he met. Jim never met a stranger, only friends he hadn’t made yet. He loved others without limits. Jim measured his life not in accomplishments, but in memories, relationships, and the joy of the present moment.
Living life to the fullest, Jim spent his time traveling around the world for business and leisure including to numerous countries in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. He was a lifelong fan of all sports, especially baseball, and was a baseball/softball player and golfer. For most his life, he loved having passionate discussions about politics, business, and current events, and was an avid reader of the Star Ledger and the NY Post, but not the NY Times. He later became a social media enthusiast, and made real friends across the world through it. He ironically loved to tell kids that they should "behave".
Jim worked through out his life as a biotechnology entrepreneur. He first began working as a teenager for his grandfather’s company who he was named after, called Thermoplastics, Inc. in Gillette, New Jersey. He later worked for his father’s companies Sani-Tech and RubberFab, and developed his own business called UltraPure, all located in Sussex County, New Jersey. His latest business endeavors included Complete Gasket Solutions (CGS) and Coachella Ranch Rum while he was residing in Coachella Valley in California and Sarasota County in Florida as his last residence.
Jim is survived by his wife Claudilena DuPont, his mother Julie, his sister Meg and brother Robert, his four children James III, Melissa, Hayden and Troy, his two beloved granddaughters Valeria and Charlie, as well as his nieces Nicole and Christie and nephew Brendan.
Jim's Celebration of Life in Florida took place on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 5-8:30PM EST at the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW-8118, 832 E Venice Avenue, Venice, Florida, 34285.
