Janet Kay Emo, 70, passed away on March 23, 2026. Born on October 30, 1955, in Beausejour, Manitoba, she carried a quiet strength and openhearted spirit throughout her life. She will be remembered as caring, compassionate, loyal, loving, honest, and true.

A woman of service and of words, Janet served in the Navy before building a life as a freelance writer and ghostwriter, finding fulfillment in helping others tell their stories. She found joy in her kitchen, on sunlit shorelines, and among the green rows of her own garden, where patience and care yielded beauty she loved to share. Beside her beloved husband, Kevin, she traveled through most of the States, collecting the small wonders of the road—new friends, favorite cafés, and the comfort of miles spent in easy conversation. As her children grew and ventured into their own lives, she felt the tender ache of an empty nest, yet she filled it with generosity, a listening ear, and an open door. Her guiding refrain to those she loved was simple and steadfast: “Be confident, be yourself, be you.”

Above all, Janet’s heart belonged to her family. She was most known for the depth of her love for Kevin and their children; their triumphs were her joy, and their burdens her concern. Even as the years brought independence to those she raised, she remained their steady harbor and faithful advocate. At home, a small toy monkey named Monk often rested nearby—a lighthearted companion that reflected her playful warmth and the gentleness with which she cared. The family chooses to hold their most treasured stories privately, carried in the quiet places of their own hearts.

Janet leaves a legacy of loyalty, warmth, and unwavering devotion—the qualities that made her, to those who knew her best, the “Mightiest Monk of All.” May her memory invite us to nurture what grows, linger at the shoreline, share a good meal, and live with the honesty she championed. With gratitude, her family thanks all who helped her along her way. She went in peace, and love.
