

John DeProspo
Mr. John R. DeProspo of Venice, Florida , passed away on May 6, 2026. He was the only son of the late John and Frances DeProspo of Totowa, NJ.
John was a quiet and gentle man, of generous nature, having a general interest in all things nautical and aquatic. He loved deep-sea fishing and spending time on his boat. He was an avid coin and Lionel Train collector, loved jazz music and an ever-optimistic New York Giants fan.
A gregarious man, John was easy to fall into conversation during any social gathering. Always an enthusiastic story teller and attentive listener; John truly had an easy-going nature, taking life in stride one day at a time.
Born in Paterson, NJ, his career as a highly respected Toxicologist took him to many job locations throughout the NYC metro area.
John completed his undergrad at The College of New Jersey and earned his Masters in Toxicology from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa.
During his illustrious career, some of his accomplishments included his creation of J. DeProspo Assoc., specializing in toxicology, regulatory and occupational safety, corporate compliance, and consulting for chemical, pesticide, flavor, and food industries. He served in several high-level roles, including Global Leader of Corporate Compliance, Manager of Product Safety, and Associate Director of Health, Safety, and Toxicological Affairs. Throughout his career, John remained an active member of the Society of Toxicology.
John was a wonderful father, who was deeply loved and survived by his two children and their spouses; Kate Marych (Bill), Michael J. DeProspo (Maggie) and also by his former wife and friend, Marilyn DeProspo.
John was also a loving grandfather, known as “Pa” , to his two young granddaughters, Sadie Frances Marych and Hazel Grace Marych.
John is also survived by numerous relatives and friends.
He is already missed by all and will be carried in our hearts always.
