John Michael “Mike” Maine
Surrounded by the love of his family, John Michael “Mike” Maine, 69, a longtime resident of Eustis, Florida, and formerly of Weirton, West Virginia, was called home by his Heavenly Father.
Mike lived a life marked by quiet strength, a kind heart, and unwavering love for his family and friends. Known for his warm smile, creativity, and easygoing nature, he touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Mike never met a stranger.
A true entrepreneur at heart, Mike pursued a wide range of passions and built an impressive variety of businesses throughout his life. He wrote software, provided internet services, blended spices, worked as a chandler (candle maker), practiced aromatherapy, and even mastered the art of barbecue. As a skilled pit master, Mike found joy in cooking for others and was always happiest when surrounded by friends, good food, and laughter.
Mike also had a deep love for music. He played guitar, wrote songs and poetry inspired by his life, capturing moments both big and small with humor, heart, and raw emotion. He especially enjoyed creating songs as gifts for friends and family — each one a reflection of his generous spirit and creative soul.
Committed to giving back, Mike dedicated time to educating people and youth about technology, inspiring and empowering the next generation. He was most willing to accept late night texts and calls for help unless he was watching wrestling.
Outside of his businesses and music, Mike loved to watch wrestling, hunt deer, wild hog, and travel in the mountains, finding peace and adventure in nature’s beauty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Maine and Julia I. (Nagy) Maine, and by his brother, Paul L. Maine, all of whom were from Weirton, West Virginia.
He is survived by his two lovingly devoted sisters: Judi L. Van Horn (Nancy), and Charlene M. Sayre (Denny); his sister-in-law, Deana Maine; his nieces: Lisa R. Sayre, Dana N. Sayre, and Jenna Jo Maine, and numerous close friends whom he considered his extended family.
A celebration of Mike's life will be planned for a later time, in the heart of the Smokey Mountains, where he loved to spend time hunting, visiting friends, and gathering inspiration for his poetry and music. Mike would want friends to celebrate his life by enjoying time with family and friends over a good meal, by sharing stories, and loving each other.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave, the songs he wrote, the meals he shared, and the lives he touched will live on.
