John Patrick Donnell, Jr.
John Patrick Donnell, Jr. was born on October 23, 2007, in Chicago, Illinois, and died on June 16, 2026, at the age of 18. Known to many simply as Junior, he carried himself with a serene confidence and a passionate spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone around him.
Junior was a gifted musician who found joy in playing guitar and bass, often sharing his talent generously with friends and family. He was also deeply committed to athletics, earning varsity letters in volleyball, golf, and wrestling in the same year—an achievement that reflected both his determination and versatility. A proud high school graduate, he approached his pursuits with focus and drive, whether on the mat, on the court, or out fishing. He was known for being everyone’s favorite cousin, a loyal friend to all, and someone who brought steady encouragement wherever he went. His playful humor and memorable expressions, including “Rage bait!” and his often-repeated reminder, "Strong mind, strong spirit", became part of the rhythm of daily life for those who loved him.
Those closest to Junior meant everything to him. He treasured his childhood friends Josh and Sam, carrying Josh’s memory with him after his friend’s death at age 11. He shared a special bond with his Auntie Raine, Uncle Derek, and cousins Ireland, Gabriel, and Elisabeth, as well as with his mother Cherie and his siblings Lydia, Robert, and Rachel. He respected and appreciated Coach Lewis and Coach Davis for their guidance and support. At home, he adored Wolfie, his chihuahua. One family story captures his spirit well: when a younger cousin became stuck in a washing machine, Junior leapt into action, dodging flailing legs and hitching up his slipping pants as he triumphantly “rescued” him from the “evil machine.” It was classic Junior—brave, quick, and just a little bit hilarious.
If he could be remembered for one thing, it would be the pep talks he gave so freely—to friends, cousins, and even pets—about how to face challenges and “defeat your opps.” In his memory, donations may be made to the Association for Autism and Neurodiversity. The family wishes to thank everyone who loved him and built him up, supporting him and speaking truth and goodness into his life. Junior’s impact endures in the music he played, the strength he modeled, and the confidence he inspired in others.
