With love and deep admiration, we remember the life of Jon Goitz, who passed away on May 22, 2025, at the age of 72.  He was born on August 21, 1952 in Albany, New York to the late John Patrick Goitz and Veronica T Wagner.

In 1977, he pursued his dream of moving to San Francisco where he resided for 13 years. In 1979, he married his wife, Judy, in Lake Tahoe, a place very dear to his heart. They lived all over the country until retiring to Sarasota in 2013.

Jon had a lifelong passion for music, especially Joni Mitchell and the Grateful Dead. There was always music playing if Jon was in the room. He also found great joy in traveling and watching college football. He was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.

In his youth, Jon was All-Star little League pitcher, an accomplishment that he was very proud of. Professionally, Jon had a successful career as a Technical Sales Professional. Jon will be remembered as someone who was motivated to always do his best and that was reflected in his sales career.

Jon’s generosity to family and friends left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Swazey Goitz, his son, Jonathan Hill-Goitz, and son-in-law, Mark Hill-Goitz. He is also survived by his sisters, Vicky Fleming and Donna Bullinger, and his niece, Stacey Bullinger, as well as his nephew, Al Yaggle. He is remembered with love by his sisters-in-law, Donna Oursler and Sandy King.

In honor of Jon’s memory, donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of America—an organization that played a large part in Jon’s youth.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Tidewell Hospice, Moffitt Cancer Center, and Sarasota Memorial Hospital for all of the care and support they showed during the last few weeks of Jon’s life. Their kindness will never be forgotten.

Plans for a memorial or celebration of life are not yet decided, but the family looks forward to honoring Jon in a meaningful way.
