It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jonathan Barton Maurice, in Punta Gorda, Florida on March 20, 2026, with his loving wife by his side. Jonathan had just celebrated his 61st birthday, marking the occasion in a place he loved.

Born on February 5, 1965, in Sarnia, Ontario, Jonathan was an only child, predeceased by his beloved parents, Beverley Ann Maurice (McGrath) and Peter Charles Maurice.

He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his devoted wife, Sarah Maurice (Smith), and his children; Meredith, Vanessa, and Zachary, who meant everything to him. Jonathan was deeply loved by his extended family across Michigan, Florida, and California. As well as by the many friends he made throughout his life — friendships that he valued greatly and carried with him over the years.

Jonathan was a proud graduate of Western University, earning his professional engineering designation. An entrepreneur at heart, he founded a computer software company named after the Great Lakes. He was also widely known for his ownership of Norma Jean’s, where his passion for live music, connection, and community brought people together and created lasting memories for so many. He was fondly known as “Bossman” by those he met during this time. Later, Jonathan and Sarah owned the Cheryl Ann in Grand Bend, a place that held special meaning for him and his family and where many happy moments were shared.

In retirement, Jonathan found joy in life’s simplest and most meaningful moments. He and Sarah spent countless treasured days at their home in Grand Bend, soaking in the peaceful surroundings and watching the sunsets they loved so much. They spent hours together watching the Toronto Blue Jays, not often missing a game and attending many in person. He had a lifelong passion for football, taking great pride in watching his son play and remaining a devoted Michigan Wolverines football fan.

Jonathan will be fondly remembered for his deep love of animals, often opening his home and his heart to many over the years. Most recently, cherishing his sweet dog, Dash.

To those who knew him best, Jonathan loved deeply and fiercely. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, near and far, holding each of them close in his heart.

The family invites those who knew Jonathan to share their memories and stories. A private celebration of life will be held with immediate family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local humane society or an animal rescue organization of your choice.
