Jose "Pepe" A Vazquez
Jose "Pepe" A Vazquez, 73, passed away on March 9, 2026. Born on May 21, 1952, in Santiago de Cuba, Jose was a hard-working family man devoted to Christ and a faithful member of Iglesia Vida Nueva in Miami, Florida. Those who knew him will remember his steadfast faith, tireless work ethic, and the quiet warmth he extended to everyone he met.
Guided by the conviction he often proclaimed—“This is the BEST country in the World”—Jose emigrated from Cuba and built a life defined by grit, gratitude, and generosity. He realized a cherished dream by owning his own bakery, where early mornings and honest labor were acts of love for his family and community. The shop became more than a livelihood; it was a gathering place for friendship, encouragement, and a good story. A die-hard New York Yankees fan, Jose savored every season and every debate, insisting with a twinkle in his eye that Coach Joe Girardi was the worst in Yankees history. He was also deeply patriotic and held a strong appreciation for the opportunities he found in his adopted country.
At the center of Jose’s world was family. His greatest joy was being the best grandfather and great-grandfather—“Abuelo” and “Bisabuelo”—ever present with a gentle word, a strong example, and an open door. Jose is survived by his beloved wife, Magaly; his mother, Fefa; his children, Jose, Monica, and Madeline; and his sisters Lily and Cary. He is predeceased by his dear daughter, Giselita. He leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his stories, his laughter, and the values he lived each day. His loyal Maltese, Chewy, rarely left his side and will miss his steady companionship.
Jose will be remembered for his patriotism and generosity, his devotion to Christ, and the love he poured into his family. His legacy is one of faith, hard work, and a grateful heart that never stopped giving. The family extends heartfelt thanks to every medical professional who cared for him, especially his nephrologist, Dr. Melissa Buchkovich, and his internist, Dr. M. Crystal. May Jose rest in the peace of Christ, and may those who loved him find comfort in the example he set: to work hard, love well, and give freely.
