Joseph John Brochu
Joseph John Brochu, 79, passed away on December 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of practical ingenuity, warmth, and laughter. Born in Bingham, Maine, on May 24, 1946, John was a hardworking, quick-witted thinker who met life’s challenges with a ready grin and his trademark reassurance: “That’s no problem!”
John graduated from Valley High School in 1964. After earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine, John built a proud life’s work as a self-employed professional in construction and engineering and as a respected site evaluator. A member of MASE, he was known for his high standards, steady hands, and gift for turning complex challenges into straightforward solutions. He loved the give-and-take of a project—sketching plans at the kitchen table, improvising a tool in the garage, and leaving things better than he found them. Outside of work, John found joy in simple, enduring pleasures: cooking generous meals for those he loved, casting a line on quiet waters, launching a boat at first light, and heading into the woods to hunt when the season turned. His quick humor lightened hard days, his curiosity kept him fixing and puttering long after others had given up, and he was legendary for never passing up a good deal when he spotted one.
John is lovingly survived by his long-time companion, Judy Daviau; Kevin and Sandilynn Daniel and their children, Cole and Rachel; Tara Robinson and her children, Brooke, Ceana, Josie, and Nadia; Meegan Burbank and her children, Gilbert and Aowyn; John Burbank; his brother, Richard, and his wife, Patricia Brochu; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He will be remembered for his humor, his hands-on know-how, and the steady comfort he offered to anyone who needed help.
A graveside celebration will be announced. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Sarasota EMS and the doctors and nurses at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care. In honoring John's memory, his family invites you to carry forward his spirit—share a story, lend a hand, keep an eye out for a bargain, and face the next challenge with his easy confidence and a good sense of humor.
