Juana Gonzalez
Juana Gonzalez, a loving, caring, and compassionate woman whose laughter and cooking were the heart of every gathering, passed away on April 14, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on February 17, 1940, in Puerto Rico, Juana carried her island’s warmth and resilience wherever she went. A devoted Roman Catholic and Marian devotee, she lived her faith quietly and consistently, offering comfort, a warm meal, and a kind word to anyone in need. Those who knew her will remember not only her sense of humor and generosity, but the way her presence made a house feel like home.
Juana’s life was defined by devotion—to family, to hard work, and to continual growth. She returned to school to earn her GED and proudly secured her driver’s license after the age of 50, milestones that reflected her determination and independence. Her greatest joys were in the simple, beautiful rhythms of daily life: tending her garden and speaking lovingly to her plants, stirring pots of arroz con gandules on the stove, crafting with nimble hands, and settling in for her favorite Spanish novelas. She often reminded her family, “Cada cual por su casa”—to each their own—a gentle wisdom that taught respect, acceptance, and peace. Above all, Juana had a gift for hospitality; with grace and ingenuity, she could turn whatever she had into a meal that welcomed everyone to the table.
Juana was the devoted wife of Delfino Gonzalez and the cherished mother of her three daughters, Lillian, Diana, and Liza, who were the pride of her heart. Her home rang with laughter, including the family’s favorite story of the Thanksgiving turkey—when Juana, platter in hand, cheerfully walked straight into a closed sliding glass door and erupted into a cascade of colorful Spanish exclamations that had everyone laughing for years. She is also fondly remembered for her tender bond with her beloved pets, Chavito and Thalia. In every season of life, Juana’s humor, compassion, and unfailing care created a refuge for the people she loved.
Juana’s legacy lives on in the meals lovingly shared, the gardens still blooming, and the kindness passed forward. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Alzheimer’s Association via the tribute page created in her memory. With heartfelt gratitude, the family wishes to thank the hospice teams in Florida and Tennessee for their skilled, compassionate care and the comfort they provided. May eternal light shine upon Juana, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
