Judith Anne Apshaga, feisty, loving, and funny, passed away on January 20, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on March 19, 1940, in Boston, Massachusetts, Judith lived a life rich with laughter, loyalty, and straight-shooting warmth. To all who knew her, she was a spitfire with a tender heart—a woman who reveled in the joy of a full house and the comfort of being surrounded by her people. She will be remembered most for bringing people together, especially during the holidays, when her home brimmed with conversation, good food, and the kind of laughter that lingers long after the night ends.

Judith’s spirited personality left an indelible impression wherever she went. She loved nothing more than entertaining, and she made every gathering feel like a celebration. With humor always at the ready—and a famously colorful favorite word delivered with a wink—she had a gift for putting others at ease and reminding them to savor the moment. Her greatest joys were simple and steadfast: time with family and friends and the beloved companionship of her dog, LG (“Life’s Good”), who proceeded Judith in death in August 2025. In her company, there were always extra chairs at the table, second helpings on the way, and a toast waiting for anyone who needed one.

She is survived by her daughter-by-choice, Christine; her nieces, Kelly Apshaga-Meaux and Meghan Apshaga; their partners, Wes Apshaga-Meaux and Jeremy Evans; and her cherished great-nephew, Dante. She also leaves behind her faithful LG, who rarely strayed far from her side. Judith’s family of the heart extended well beyond these names: friends became kin under her roof, and neighbors became regulars at her table. Each carries forward stories of her quick wit, generosity, and the steady comfort of her presence.

If Judith could choose how to be remembered, she’d say: be kind, enjoy life, don’t wait for tomorrow, and raise a glass. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Tidewell Hospice, the Port Charlotte Hospice House, and the dedicated staff at Advent Health and Life Care in Punta Gorda, along with everyone who helped care for her over the last six months. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and may her legacy bring comfort to all who were touched by her presence. Please take your family out to eat and lift a glass in her honor.
