Keith "Jim" Hayden
Keith "Jim" Hayden Jr, 90, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away August 12, 2025 at Village Place Health and Rehab Center in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and grew up in southern California though lived in various states throughout his life. Shortly after graduating high school he enlisted in the US Army and served for two years, later attending UCLA.
His longtime career in managerial positions within the newspaper industry spanned across the country, beginning with the LA Times, then later to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Denver Post, Forbes Newspaper in NJ, and The Washington Times. After retirement he volunteered at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Maryland, where he received a Volunteer of the Month award, Cape Coral Hospital/Lee Health Center and the Pine Island Museum in Florida.
Keith and his wife Mary loved to travel and were fortunate enough to see many different corners of the world. He enjoyed good food and wine - though also a notorious lover of spam and hot sauce, as well as gardening, cigars, reading and sports, especially the Buffalo Bills. He was usually the center of good times, and his fantastic sense of humor could light up any room he walked into. Kind and generous, he always made time for others and could talk to anyone about anything.
Keith is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (Raimondo), daughter Dana Iwanylo, son Scott Hayden, grandchildren Marissa (Brandon) Estep, Caleigh Iwanylo, Kelsey Iwanylo, Parker Iwanylo, Chase Hayden, great granddaughter Maggie Estep, sister Nancy Glueckert, parents-in-law Mary and Joe Raimondo, in-laws Joseph & Mercedes Raimondo, Gina & Alex HooFatt, Beth & Alan Begane, many beloved nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.
Keith was predeceased by his son Tim Hayden, parents Maye B. Hayden and Keith J. Hayden, brother Jack Hayden, brother-in-law John Glueckert.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
