Leo Alfred Girouard

Leo Alfred Girouard, born on March 4, 1941, in Leominster, Massachusetts, passed away on September 11, 2026. Known to many as a strong, funny, and loving man, Leo touched countless lives with his humor and kindness. An expert craftsman, he had an affinity for helping others and could fix almost anything. His presence was a source of joy and laughter, often making friends of strangers, even those trying to sell him expired car warranties.

Leo's dedication to service is evident in his remarkable achievements. He was instrumental in building large playgrounds and recreational areas, including those at St. Jude's Hospital and near the Daytona Beach pier. Many shuffleboard, tennis, and racquetball courts in Central Florida stand as a testament to his skillful craftsmanship and community spirit. Besides his work, Leo found joy in feeding strays, be it cats, ducks, or gators, always offering warmth to creatures great and small.

He is dearly remembered by his 107-year-old mother, Hortense Girouard, his sister, Irene Akerman, and his lady, Rita Boczkowski. His legacy lives on through his children Marie (Murf) Murphy, Terry (Bob) Hart, Daniel (Paige) Betwinek, Pamela (George) Neumayr, and Rodney (Betsy) Girouard, along with 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Leo was a beacon of love and friendship to many, leaving behind a vast family and innumerous friends who cherished him.

Memorial services will be held on September 27 at 4 p.m. at ChristPoint Church, Sparta, TN, and on October 11 at 3 p.m. at Villages on the Green, Longwood, FL.
