Leonard J. Goldstein, born March 6, 1943, in Albany New York, lived a full, joyful, and deeply faithful life centered on his love for Jesus and his wonderful family.

He passed away peacefully on March 3rd, 2026 surrounded by his beloved family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.

Leonard was born to Nathan and Evelyn Goldstein and was predeceased by his devoted parents and his older brother, Steve Goldstein. Len graduated from Albany High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business management from Rochester Institute of Technology, equipping him for a long and successful career in business and sales.

On June 12, 1965, he married the love of his life, his Bride, Carol Anne Phillips. Together they built a life defined by faith, resilience, laughter, and deep devotion. They always said; God brought them together and kept them together.

Beginning his professional journey working for R. T. French Company, Rochester, NY.  It was there that he and Carol welcomed their first child, Michael David. A new opportunity brought the family to Atlanta, Georgia to work for The Coca-Cola Company.  It was there that their daughter Michelle Dawn was born. A promotion later took them to Bellingham, Massachusetts before eventually returning home to Albany, New York to take over the family business, Decorator’s Workroom. In Albany, they welcomed their youngest daughter, Diane Catherine.

When Decorator’s Workroom closed in 1980, Leonard embraced what he did best, sales. Whether it was cars, RVs, or modular homes, he had a natural gift for connecting with people and building rapport. His warmth, humor, and confidence made him unforgettable to everyone he met. As he loved to say with a grin, “If I was any better, I would be twins!”

Leonard’s true calling was always his faith. He was incredibly devoted to Jesus Christ and lived his life as a reflection of that love. At Grace Fellowship, he faithfully led Bible studies, mentoring others and sharing Scripture with passion and conviction for many years. His relationship with Jesus was not just something he spoke about. His faith guided how he loved, forgave, encouraged, and showed up for others every day.

He loved all sports; especially football and rarely missed a Giants game. He loved babies, delighted in great food, and gave the best bear hugs on the planet.

In 1995, Leonard began what he proudly called the best job he ever had: Grandpa, or what his grandchildren would dub him: G-dog. His grandchildren were his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment - Nathan (Kayla), Mara (Dustin), Nick, Matthew, Haven, Taite (Meghan), Ryan (Isabella) and bonus Granddaughter Rosie. He celebrated them endlessly, prayed for them faithfully, and loved them fiercely.

Leonard leaves behind his loving Bride of 60 years, Carol Goldstein, his devoted children, Mike Goldstein (Robyn), Michelle Peters (Matthew), and Diane Taite (Sal); and his cherished grandchildren. He was a man who loved boldly, believed deeply, laughed loudly, and lived confidently in his faith.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23

A celebration of life will be held at a later date when family and friends can gather together. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:
