Lynn Rosebrough Stetson

Lynn Rosebrough Stetson, born September 29, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, died on July 15, 2026. She lived a life defined by intellect, independence, and conviction. Beautiful, articulate, and highly educated, Lynn carried herself with quiet confidence and a deep awareness of the world around her.

Lynn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Archeology from Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont, and went on to pursue graduate studies at Rutgers University and New York University, earning her master’s degree. She was passionate about higher education, thoughtful discourse, and spirited debate. An avid reader, she also found creative expression through painting, needlepoint, knitting, and crochet. A devoted cat lover, she carried photos of her beloved cats in her wallet, a small but constant reminder of the companions she cherished. Deeply shaped by the ideals of her generation, Lynn embraced a hippie spirit while living what her family fondly described as an Ivy League lifestyle. She believed in love, diversity, and acceptance, and she spoke her mind plainly, feeling keenly the inequities of life’s adversity.

Her sense of individuality was memorable. She wore houndstooth skirt suits with clogs and carried herself with unmistakable style. Her daughter recalls with humor a childhood moment in New Jersey when helicopters circled overhead above a garden discreetly hidden by corn—an episode that became part of the family’s lore and a testament to Lynn’s free-spirited nature. At her core, however, she was deeply sensitive. She often reflected, “I wish I would of followed my instincts.” She also held close the lesson passed down from her grandmother: “My grandmother taught us undying loyalty to one another. Something I do not see today in families. We learned to always be there and nothing would shake that bond.”

Lynn’s mother and her daughter were the most important people in her life, part of a unique line of only children that she treasured dearly. She will be remembered above all as beautiful and sensitive, a woman who felt deeply and loved fiercely. Her daughter and son-in-law, Brad, will dearly miss her and carry her memory forward with love.
