It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Margaret “Sue” Wrey on November, 21, 2025 in Bradenton, Florida. Though she held many cherished titles throughout her life - daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend - she was so much more than the roles she filled.

Sue grew up in the hills of Kentucky in a coal mining town. While growing up, she was more interested in spending time with her friends than learning how to cook and do her chores. Her sister Mary can attest to how little Sue was interested in helping around the house. When Sue was in high school her family moved to California and this is where she met and married her husband. Sue was just 18 when she married and she wasn’t very skilled as a homemaker, but she learned quickly and found she loved taking care of her home and growing family. As her children grew the family moved many times, living in California, Washington, New York, North Carolina, and Florida; it was in Florida that Sue decided she wanted to work and she started her career in food service. Another transfer moved Sue, her husband, and youngest daughter Kathy to Lexington KY where Sue became the Dietary Manager at Cardinal Hill Rehab Hospital, and she remained there until she retired.  After retiring she found great happiness spending time with family, friends, and traveling. This time also allowed her to reconnect with her creative side.  Tons of quilts, crocheted accessories and dolls became her focus to give to her kids, grandkids, and friends.  She was always crafting. A move back to her childhood home in Bevinsville KY was needed to care for her mother and her Aunt Ruth. Sue remained in Bevinsville, living in the home she grew up in, until she herself no longer could live alone. A final move to Florida to be near family was made this past October.

She will forever be remembered for her radiant smile, that could lift your spirits in an instant. For the way her hugs seemed to take every care in the world away, and how her warm heart and caring soul were evident in everything she did, especially in the way she opened her home to others. Her generosity was one of her defining traits. She gave without hesitation, even in moments when she herself might have been in need. Sue touched countless lives with her kindness and unwavering compassion, offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply her presence. Whether you were sitting next to her or 1000 miles away, she left no doubt that you were together in her heart.

Sue leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and selflessness—one that lives on in her family and in every life she brightened.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Alex Vasvary and Edna Cleo (Rainey) Vasvary, her brother William Gable Vasvary, her ex-husband Ronald Warren Wrey, her son Jeffrey Charles Wrey, and her great grandchild Gabriel Wrey.

Sue is survived by her sisters Mary Ann Isaacs and Carol Ruth Vasvary; her children Gregory (Nancy) Wrey, Leslie (Steven) Riccard, Kathy (Bobby) Fishbough; her grandchildren Destiny (Douglas) Garrett, Matthew (Meghan) Wrey, Hayden (Ashton) Riccard, Mitchell (Emily) Riccard, Nolan Riccard, Ella Riccard, Lilly Fishbough, Macy Fishbough, Lance Fishbough, Abby Fishbough; and her great grandchildren Damian Garrett, Piper Garrett, Gavin Garrett, Emerson Riccard, Archie Wrey, Jonah Wrey and Leland Wrey.

Her kindness, work ethic, and selfless spirit will forever remain in our hearts, reminding us to smile more freely, welcome others more openly, and give more generously, just as she did throughout her beautiful life.

May she rest peacefully, surrounded by the same love she shared so abundantly with the world.

A celebration of life for our mother will be held in the spring of 2026, with the exact date to be determined at a later time.
