Maria Berta Copano

Maria Berta Copano, 61, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on September 11, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida, surrounded by love.

Maria lived her life with a caring heart, a strong spirit, and an incredible work ethic. She devoted herself to her family, friends, and community, always finding ways to bring comfort and joy to others. Whether it was caring for animals, tending her garden, crafting something special, or decorating her home, Maria poured love into everything she did.

She had a gift for making ordinary days brighter, and holidays – especially Halloween – extra magical. Maria loved creating spooky decorations by hand, dressing up in costume, and hosting Halloween gatherings filled with laughter and fun. Seeing the smiles she brought to others gave her the greatest joy.

Faith and service were also at the center of Maria’s life. As a member of Reach Out Church and through her work as a home health aide, she gave of herself freely to help those in need. Her strength, kindness, and generosity left a mark on everyone who knew her.

Maria is survived by her loving daughter, Brittney, her sister Theresa, and nephew John, and brother Jeno. She also adored her cats, Leelee and Orange, who were constant companions and a source of comfort.

Those who knew Maria will remember her for her resilience, her laughter, and her boundless love. She was always a fighter, meeting life’s challenges with courage and grace. To her family and friends, she will always be remembered as a source of strength, warmth, and inspiration.
