Mary Elizabeth Kregenow (née Boyle), 84, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, after a long and courageous journey with combined Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia.

Born on July 24, 1941, Mary lived a life defined by generosity and a deep love for her family. Raised in East Cleveland, Ohio, she cherished her Scottish heritage, a connection she carried with her throughout her life. Mary’s vibrant spirit shone through her many travels and hikes in the great outdoors, often enjoyed on road trips with her sister and adventures with friends. Whether whitewater rafting, ziplining, or simply exploring new places, she proved time and again that neither age nor fear could hold her back.

Mary loved the sunshine and could often be found by the pool soaking in the sun. Living in Sarasota for the last ten years gave her the gift of more days by the pool or at the beach, where she could delight in the beauty of the sea.

Mary found deep joy in her work and community. She served for many years in Worthington Schools in central Ohio, most recently as registrar at Thomas Worthington High School, where she touched the lives of countless students and families. She retired in 2005, but her kindness and steady guidance are still remembered by many.

Family was always at the center of Mary’s life. She treasured every moment with her four beloved grandchildren and was overjoyed to recently welcome a great-grandson. She also held a special place in her heart for her nieces, nephews, and cousins, cherishing their time together whether in Cleveland or Florida. Above all, her children, Paul and Beth, were her greatest pride, and she poured her energy, wisdom, and unwavering love into their lives.

Mary will be remembered for her giving nature, her zest for life, and her warmth that made everyone feel welcome. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, resilience, and deep love that will continue to live on in those who knew her best.

Mary is preceded in death by her brother, George Boyle and her parents Constantine Boyle and Mary Boyle (neé Young). She is survived by her sister, Constance Boyle Youker (Craig), her son Paul (Betsy), her daughter Beth, her grandchildren Thomas Kregenow, James Kregenow, Mason Kregenow Wolpert, Brooke Kregenow Wolpert, and her great-grandson Greyson Abbott-Kregenow.
