Matthew Douglas Selzer, 41, passed away on May 25, 2026 surrounded by family. Born on February 25, 1985, in Prince George's County, Maryland, Matthew lived a life defined by curiosity, connection, and an enduring sense of adventure.

Supportive, loving, and witty, Matthew brought both steadiness and spark to the people around him. He was known for his adventurous spirit and his willingness to embrace new experiences, whether that meant traveling to new places, following sports with enthusiasm, or simply gathering with friends and family to share a meal and a laugh. A lifelong learner, Matthew pursued knowledge with genuine passion, earning a variety of degrees over the years. He valued growth and discovery, and he approached life with an open mind and a thoughtful perspective that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

At the center of Matthew’s world were the people he loved most: his wife, Misty; his sister, Stephie; his mother, Susanne; his father, Scott; and his grandmother, Birdie. He treasured time spent with family and friends, finding joy in everyday moments and in the shared experiences that turned into lasting memories. His family dog, Sonya, and his cat, Fang, were also a meaningful part of his life, adding comfort and companionship to his days.

Matthew will be remembered for the way he showed others how to find joy in everyday life and for inspiring those around him to live with purpose, gratitude, and courage.
