Miguel Angel Torres, 68, died on July 14, 2026. He was born on January 30, 1958, in Puerto Rico. A social, friendly, and loving man, Miguel lived with energy and curiosity, forming lasting connections wherever he went and embracing life with an open heart.

Miguel was a proud Army veteran and a man of remarkable discipline and passion. A 3rd degree black belt in karate, he owned and operated his own dojo in Marion County, Florida, where he taught and mentored students for many years. His love of flying led him to become a pilot who enjoyed aerobatics in small aircraft, and he faithfully volunteered at Sun ’n Fun Airshows for years. He found joy on the water as well, fishing with friends and taking his boat out into the ocean. At home, he was known for his love of music, cooking—especially his famous rice and beans—and lively conversations on just about any topic. He enjoyed cruising, spending time on his property, watching his favorite Sasquatch shows, and above all, gathering with friends and family. His humor and adventurous spirit were unmistakable.

Family was Miguel’s greatest pride. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Kim, and cherished his children, Angie, Miguel, Melissa, Amanda, and Anthony. He was a proud grandfather to Ivan, Leo, Livia, Grace, Mila, Nori, and Ellisa, and great-grandfather to Robyn and Luna. He is also remembered by his sisters, Blanca and Aideta. His loyal Chihuahua, Gidget, was his constant companion and devoted protector. Miguel often told those he loved, “I love you for free,” a simple phrase that captured his generous heart and the way he gave of himself without reservation.

If he could be remembered for one thing, it would be being a gentle soul with a big heart. The family wishes to thank all who supported them during Miguel’s final days, with a special expression of gratitude to RN Holly, who held them and cried with them in his final hours. Miguel’s love, laughter, and deep devotion to his family will remain a steady presence in the lives of those who knew him.
