Peter Victor Fortier
Peter Victor Fortier, 68, passed away on March 15, 2026 in Lakeland, Florida. Born on March 4, 1958, in Berlin, New Hampshire, Peter was the embodiment of what it means to be loving, caring, and thoughtful. He was known for his generosity, his warm, ready smile, and his remarkable willingness to forgive and listen when others needed to talk. Peter’s life was guided by simple, strong principles and a work ethic that uplifted those around him.
A master plumber by trade, Peter took pride in his craft and was a patient teacher who could show anyone how to do just about anything. His greatest achievement, however, was at home: as a single parent, he raised his son with unwavering devotion and kindness. He loved music, found joy in sports, and lit up most when spending time with his grandchildren. Few things delighted him more than traveling to watch them play; those games put an unmistakable smile on his face. He would gently tell his son to ease up on pushing the kids in sports—then laugh when reminded he’d once done the same, insisting with a grin that he never did that. Peter also had a soft spot for his dogs and felt deeply the recent loss of his loyal companion, Harley, who passed a month before him. He often shared the words that shaped his days: “Dream big, work hard, be relentless, and take nothing for granted.”
Peter is survived by his son, Joshua Fortier, and daughter-in-law, Kia Fortier; his beloved grandchildren, Carter, Raelynn, and Deacon Fortier; his brother, Richard Fortier, and Richard’s children, Corrie and Sabrina; and his sisters, Doris Lapointe and Mary Jane Chevarie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rolande, his father, Arthur, his two brothers, Paul Sr. and Art, his long-term girlfriend, Jamie Greenough, and his three cherished dogs, including Harley.
A memorial will be held in West Milan, New Hampshire, at his parents’ and brother’s cemetery. The family will share the date and time with those who wish to attend. The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped or reached out; your kindness means more than you know as we navigate this sudden and difficult time. Peter was an amazing father and an even better grandfather, always ready to help—even when told it wasn’t needed. He will be deeply missed by many and remembered most for his unconditional love for his family.
