Phyllis Egan Pepe

Phyllis Egan Pepe,  age 85, passed away peacefully on 6/6/2026 surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on October 8, 1940 in Philadelphia, Phyllis lived a life defined by determination, compassion, and lifelong learning.

As a young wife, she was a devoted stay at home mom, a Girl Scout troop leader, camp counselor and volunteered as a Teacher’s Aid. She later, became a sole proprietor of a restaurant/bar, a Realtor,  and a school bus driver.  She returned to Scouting, initiated an online IEP support group, went to college, and finished her career as a social services advocate. She personally connected with the many people that came into her life, making lifelong friends.

She achieved one of her proudest accomplishments when she earned her Bachelor of Science, Magnum cum Laude, from Chestnut Hill College at the age of 73 , and a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda, the largest national honor society dedicated exclusively to recognizing the academic excellence of adult learners. She was proof it is never too late to pursue one’s dreams and never stop learning and growing.

Phyllis was an animal lover who owned dogs and cats over the years. She was very creative and loved crafting, quilting, sewing, cooking and baking. She enjoyed opening her home to friends and family for gatherings and holidays filled with laughter, conversation, great food and lots of story telling, creating lasting memories for everyone she hosted.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Pepe, and is survived by her children, Monica Pepe, Robert E. Pepe Jr., and Richelle E. Kozlusky; several cherished grandchildren; her beloved great-grandson; and many extended family members and friends.

Those who knew Phyllis will remember her for her strength, resilience, intelligence and spunk. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the lives she touched along her journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests honoring her memory by pursuing a new skill, helping someone in need, or gathering loved ones around the dinner table - things she valued throughout her life.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.  

Celebrate Phyllis with Us

There will be two celebrations of life for Phyllis, one in Florida and one in Pennsylvania. We look forward to seeing friends and family celebrating her with us!
