With profound love and heartfelt sorrow, we honor the life of Richard Wilson, who passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 86. Richard was born on March 11, 1939, in Yonkers, New York. Known for his wit, charm, and devotion to his family, Richard is remembered as a warm, loving, and kind husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle who brought joy to so many friends and family.

Richard had an incredible career as a United States Marine, followed by an impressive 35 years of service with the Yonkers Police Department as a Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and Detective Captain. He also spent many years as a successful entrepreneur, owning several businesses in Westchester County, New York.

Richard had many impressive talents, including art, photography, cooking, and his knowledge of current events. He was also a martial arts competitor for many years, with a Third Degree Black Belt in Karate. After moving to Florida in 2016, he enjoyed his daily walks, warm sunshine, and most importantly, time spent with his wife, children, and two long-haired dachshunds, Oscar and Felix.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Eleanor; daughter Beverly Petrie (the late Robert), son, Richard Jr. (Dolores), Karen (Kevin Spellman), John (Kelly); cherished grandchildren; Justin Petrie (Tori), Alyssa Parinello (Christopher), Richard III, and great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Harper Petrie and Rocco Parinello. He is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen, and his brother Robert Jr. and sister, Alice.

Richard’s laughter and kindness will echo in our hearts forever.

A funeral mass will be held in Venice, FL.
