Robert Jackson Phillips
Robert Jackson Phillips, 84, died on May 21, 2026. He was born on September 15, 1941, in Atlanta. Over the course of his long and active life, Robert became known for his adventurous spirit, his kindness, and his deep generosity toward others—especially the animals he loved so dearly.
Adventure was a defining theme in Robert’s life. He traveled to six continents, always eager to experience new places and cultures. A dedicated runner, he accomplished the remarkable feat of running across Thailand and Nepal, embracing both the physical challenge and the opportunity to see the world at ground level. He was a proud member of the Hash House Harriers running club, where camaraderie and miles shared on the road brought him great joy. Beyond running and travel, Robert had a fascination with fossil hunting and was a devoted animal lover, spending much of his time supporting and participating in animal rescue efforts. In fact, animal rescue was what he was most known for—an enduring reflection of his generous heart.
At the center of Robert’s life was his family. He shared 63 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Charlene, a partnership marked by loyalty and shared experience. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Joy, and a proud grandfather to Hunter, Griffin, and Carson. If he could be remembered for one thing, it would be being a good grandfather—a role he clearly cherished. His home was also shared with his cat, Prince Harry, along with the countless rescue animals he cared for over the years, each one a testament to his compassion.
Robert was known to offer practical advice with a touch of humor, often saying, “To get a Roth IRA.” Those who knew him will remember not only his adventures across continents, but also his steady kindness, his love of family, and the many lives—both human and animal—that were better because he cared for them.
