With deep love and profound sadness, we remember the life of Robert Petrie, who passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 66. Robert was born on September 4, 1958, in Bronxville, New York. Robert was known for being loving, passionate, and humorous—a man who brought joy, music, and energy into every space he entered.

Robert had an incredible passion for music history, collecting vinyl records, CDs, and concert art with care and pride. He could talk about music in any setting, to anyone, at any time. Music was his language—and he used it to connect, inspire, and lift others. He was also an avid reader, tennis player, loved old movies, and more recently, developed a newfound love for gardening. Through all of this, family remained the core of his world.

A proud graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Robert worked as an Executive Chef and was admired for his culinary skills, which he shared generously with loved ones. His vibrant personality, incredible sense of humor, and love of storytelling made him someone who could instantly light up a room. Whenever he felt deeply moved or excited, he was known to exclaim, “Just great!” or “super deluxe!”—phrases his family will never forget.

Robert cherished his role as a grandfather. Meeting his first granddaughter was an emotional moment filled with happiness, and meeting his second was just as special. The way he interacted with them brought joy to everyone in the room—he would make them laugh and loved every moment of their visits and calls.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Beverly; son, Justin(Victoria); and cherished granddaughters, Charlotte and Harper. He also leaves behind his brother, Edward(Joanne); sisters, Elizabeth(John) and Margaret; He is remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews – Kristen(Mark), Karen(Jeff), Johnny(Alicia), The Wilson Family who welcomed him with open arms – Richard (Eleanor), Rick (Dolores), Karen (Kevin), John (Kelly), and his childhood friends from the neighborhood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret, and by his loyal dogs, Max and Jake.

Robert was kind and warm-hearted to everyone. He loved to make people laugh, and he lived in a world immersed in great music and energy.  He will be remembered always—for his laughter, his passion, his stories, and above all, the joy he gave to those around him.

As a final note to her husband, Beverly shares this message of love:

Rob, your love was like music notes that filled my heart. You are my life and my love; our story will live forever with the memories we share in our marriage preserved in melodies.
Love, Beverly

Rob’s Lust for Life carried him as far as he could go.  We know now he’s up there jamming away with his idols.
