Sandra Figueroa Cossio

With full hearts, we celebrate and mourn the life of Sandra Figueroa Cossio, who passed away on March 22, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on December 26, 1964, in New York—though she loved to say “Puerto Rico” with a smile—Sandra moved through the world with the unmistakable flair of a Puertorriqueña, Leal, Parisera. She was joyfully herself, forever loyal, and always ready to turn a gathering into a celebration. Her spirit was big, bright, and unashamedly genuine, a presence that could turn an ordinary day into a memory and a roomful of acquaintances into family.

Sandra’s greatest passion was traveling to Puerto Rico, returning again and again to the people, places, and rhythms that felt like home. She was most known for partying—not as a pastime, but as a testament to her love of life: music up, laughter louder, arms open to whoever needed a seat at the table. She was an amazing Mom, Friend, Sister, Daughter, and Cousin—titles she earned not by obligation but by the tenderness, loyalty, and fierce love she gave so freely. Her favorite exclamation, “Puñeta,” often burst out in moments of joy, surprise, or fierce pride—a word that, in her voice, became a banner for living boldly. A cherished memory: the Hollywood Beach trip, when the entire family showed up together—sun-warmed sand, ocean breeze, and a day overflowing with jokes, hugs, and music. It was Sandra’s kind of day: everyone there, no one left out, everything possible.

Above all, Sandra belonged to her people. Family members, close friends, and every Boricua she met—she claimed and kept them with a loyalty that never wavered. She is survived by her loving daughter Ashley, and her beloved boys Amid, Ryan, and Kevin. To many, she was home: a confidante, a dance partner, a protector, a spark. Her legacy lives in the bonds she forged, the joy she ignited, and the fierce pride she carried in her roots.

“Real hasta la muerte”—that is how Sandra moved through this life and how she will be remembered: authentic, vibrant, and true to the end.
