Stephen Joseph Landry, 63, passed away on February 23, 2026.   Born on July 31, 1962, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Stephen lived his life with an open heart and an open door. Outgoing and fun-loving, he delighted in meeting new people and could talk to anyone, anywhere. The gift of his easy conversation-always warm, often witty and enlivened by humor-made others feel seen and welcome, and it became the hallmark of a life spent bringing people together.

Stephen found his greatest joy outdoors, especially boating at the water’s edge with a fishing rod in hand or watching a sunset.  He enjoyed the fellowship of shared adventures with family and friends whether traveling to Alaska fishing, cruising, zip-lining, kayaking or the quiet lessons of nature. A dedicated Scoutmaster and proud Wood Badge member with the Flint River Council, he invested himself in guiding young people in the Boy Scouts-teaching skills, shaping character, and modeling integrity. Mentoring came naturally to him; whether in Scouting, church, work, or daily life, he drew out the best in others with patience and encouragement. As a member of The Bridge Church in Bradenton, Florida, Stephen’s faith created a servant-hearted presence and he lifted spirits with a smile. Above all, he treasured time with family and friends believing that the most meaningful legacy is found in the small moments when love is shared.

Stephen is survived by his wife Vanessa Landry, his children, Michael Landry, Nicole Landry, and Ryan Landry; his parents, Robert and Carole Landry; and his sister, Susan Harper. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Landry. He also leaves behind a wide circle of dear friends including the many Scouts and colleagues he mentored over the years-people who will carry forward the lessons he taught and the kindness he so freely offered.

Details for a memorial or celebration of life will be shared by the family at a later date. In the meantime, those who wish to honor Stephen are invited to remember him in the ways he lived: working hard; as Stephen was fond of saying, “stating the obvious for the oblivious”; spending time with family; going boating or casting a line on a quiet morning; offering guidance to someone who needs it; and greeting a stranger like a friend. May his generous spirit continue to ripple outward in the lives he touched.
