William Tyson Heard
William Tyson Heard, Mr., 68, passed away on May 20, 2026. He was born on July 6, 1957, in Columbus, Mississippi. A man defined by loyalty, strength, and resilience, William carried himself with a steady presence that those who knew him came to rely on.
William was known as a protector—someone who stood firm for the people he loved and the values he believed in. He was, by reputation and by skill, “a great shot,” a point of pride that reflected both his steady hand and sharp focus. He lived with a spirited sense of enjoyment, often joking that “He who has the most toys Wins,” a lighthearted motto that captured his appreciation for the things that brought him happiness. At the same time, he never lost sight of practical wisdom, frequently reminding others, “Be safe, keep your head low when the lead flys.” Beneath his tough exterior was a man deeply committed to the well-being of those around him.
The most important part of William’s life was his family. He shared his life with his wife, Cristi L. Heard, and took great pride in his daughters, Victoria T. Heard and Melinda A. Heard, and stepdaughter Elise A Knutowski. He was a devoted brother to Melissa Hewitt and a caring uncle to his nieces, MikelAnn Lahr and Rebecca Bailey, and nephew James Hewitt. His grandchildren—Aundria, Alex, Andy, Aaron, Oliver, Alana, and Cayden—brought him immense joy, as did his great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jade, and Nathan, and his newest great-grandchild, Stevie Jean. His love for his family was steadfast, and his role as husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle was one he carried with honor.
William will be remembered as a loyal man, a protector at heart, and someone who faced life with resilience and determination. His presence, guidance, and unwavering devotion to his family leave a lasting mark on all who knew and loved him.
