Yolanda Echevarria
Yolanda Echevarria, 71, passed away on June 4, 2026. She was born on March 30, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York, in Coney Island—a place that always remained part of her story. Yolanda carried the spirit of New York with her wherever she went, later making the bold move to Orlando, Florida, a decision that inspired other family members to follow and begin new chapters of their own.
Outstanding, lovable, and truly a “voicetress,” Yolanda was known for her unmistakable presence. When she stepped into a room, everyone knew it. She was funny, outspoken, and fearless in speaking her mind. Her quick wit could catch you off guard, shock you, and make you laugh—all in the same breath. Whether she was saying “Whatever,” “Bitch,” “Bye Felicia,” “Girlllllllll,” “What up kid,” or a casual “anyways,” her words became part of the family’s language and the soundtrack of their lives. She loved her work as a New York City Board of Education school bus driver for more than 15 years, taking pride in showing up every day and doing her job well.
Above all, Yolanda’s greatest passion was her family. She adored her granddaughter, Laila, treasured time with her daughters, Chastity and Kimberly, and held close the love of her life, Eusebio “Che.” Her circle also included her son-in-law Sharod, bonus daughter Nina, her nephew and best friend Jeff, her godson Nico, her beloved Pokéno crew, countless nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends who became family. Her dogs—Peaches, Daisy, Tila, Kennedy, Sandee, and Keoko—were also part of the joy and fullness of her home. She had a gift for keeping everyone connected in her own way, especially during the holidays. One cherished memory recalls a Christmas Eve in 1981 when she pulled a wandering “drunk Santa” into Titi Myrna’s apartment so the kids could take photos—an unforgettable moment that perfectly captured her humor and spontaneity.
In her final days, Yolanda reached out to many she loved, sharing warm embraces, farewell kisses, and heartfelt words. Her family is deeply grateful to all who supported her and walked alongside her through the years, especially those who proudly called her “Titi.” She will be remembered for her sassiness, her strength, and a voice that left a lasting impression on every soul it touched.
